After I graduated from college in 2002, I decided I wanted to offer my wide array of talents to the public. I found out soon enough that offering my artistic services was easier said than done. Before I started my business, I would be commissioned by my neighbors, friends, and teachers to paint landscapes, seascapes, pet and family portraits. When I started my business however, I offered every artistic service you could think of, from graphics, to editorials, to abstract and realistic paintings. What I needed to do was take the time to focus what mattered to me and at the same time focus on my style, my voice. Of course it was hard to focus on my artistic process, when I had to be an adult and live on my own, pay my rent, bills and college loans. It was hard to stay focused when a tragedy like cancer would strike my family over and over again.
My breakthrough for JMV Illustrations, came in 2009 when I participated in a Cancer walk called "Relay for Life" in my hometown. I would design my family's team T-shirts and raise money by face painting and holding portrait raffles. While I loved helping my family heal from such pain, I also fell in love with what I was doing again - capturing intimate moments and healing through art.
My life is a process, and it shows through my work and personality. When I am not drawing, I am hand crafting something creative, (I am the owner of JMVisionary Workshop).
I look forward to making the illustration of your dreams!
