Announcement
Welcome to my shop. I am a wildlife artist specialising in working on pieces of reclaimed wood.
All wood is carefully sourced and stored until it's well-seasoned (dry) before being cut, if necessary, planed to create a smooth surface to work on and treated for potential woodworm.
On completion of artwork, all wood is given a coat of a professional matt spray varnish. The varnish leaves no sheen at all but helps protect the wood and the artwork.
Although varnished, my portraits are intended for indoor use only.
House names and number signs/plaques are treated with a different varnish which offers protection against the elements, including UV protection and mould prevention.
Please note that as with all wood left outside, signs/plaques will require re-varnishing periodically.
If you would like to display artwork intended for indoor use outside, please let me know and I can aply the appropriate varnish. Please also note, that the outdoor varnish will leave a slight sheen to the finished piece.
As all of my wood is reclaimed it will come with possible 'imperfections', including spalting, old woodworm holes, broken live-edge and other marks or blemishes. I believe these markings all add to the rich character of the wood.
As well as creating original wildlife portraits, I also take on pet portrait commissions, please do get in touch to discuss.
