I started sewing by making burp cloths when my oldest son, Dominic, was almost one and just loved it. My husband, family, and friends kept encouraging me to open a shop on Etsy to sell my burp cloths! I took their advice and started my journey with Etsy. My logo still has the fish design I used in my first logo, which was special to me because it was from the mobile in my oldest son's nursery! Since then I have been adding items for baby, home, and women!

I like to create items that I enjoy making and was inspired to make by a pattern, fabric, or idea. Because of this many of my items are one-of-a-kind! After making many burp cloths my next idea was creating sleep sacks for my son, but I wanted something more creative and colorful than what was available in stores. So I enlisted my Grandma, Mary Jane, to help me create a pattern and we came up with the idea I still have in my store today. More baby items followed and I eventually transitioned into making garments! In 2018 I decided to add a women's line and KSK Handmade was started! Kim Scherer's Korner and KSK Handmade are outlets for my ideas and items I love to make!

As my children transition from being home to being in school full time my sewing time will increase from working during nap times to working during school! I am looking forward to increasing productivity and the variety in my shop! I have a mountain of fabric just waiting to become something wonderful!
