❀ MY PERSONAL STORY ❀

Hello there! My name is Luciana and I'm the illustrator behind Lu Azevedo Studios. Nice meeting you!

My love story with art began in early childhood. I'm originally from Belo Horizonte, Brazil and I grew up in a very modest little house. Because my mom [who raised three kids by herself] couldn't afford any toys, I had no other option than exercise my imagination every way possible. I'd make up my own stories, pretend to cook with mud, turn corn cobs into dolls (with beautiful natural hair!), play with cardboard boxes and create lots of drawings with chalk. I used to sketch so much in my notebooks at school, that usually there was no room left to take notes! :)

Many years later I started studying Fine Arts but soon had to quit it to pursue a more stable career, so I ended up studying... Geology! (yes, I also love science!)

As a geologist I worked in many incredible places, like the Amazon Rain Forest, made great friends in the field, married a geologist, worked for five years in the mining industry and went to travel the world... We lived in Venezuela, New Zealand, Australia but as soon as became a mom, I felt that somehow, geology didn't fit in my life anymore. It was a hard decision, but I ended up leaving my job to be closer to my kids and I gradually began to draw again, but this time, having my children as my main inspiration.

Today I'm a self-taught digital artist who lives in Toronto, Canada. I live with my husband, our two soon-to-become teenagers (!) and our sweet cat Miya.
