I grew up in the Andes of Peru: a cradle for fine hand-weaved textiles, pottery, embroidery, knitting, sewing and crocheting, to name a few. As a child, I was fascinated to learn how the sweater I was wearing was connected to our beautiful Alpacas roaming all over our village. My mother taught me that first: we must sheer the alpaca wool, clean it, wash it, and spin it. I can also can dye it any color I wanted it to be. I love bright colors, so I used various bark of trees, pods and seeds. My final touch to my sweater was to put some embroidery flowers on it. I was around 6 years old when I realized that I can create anything. My three sisters are also very crafty. we always had a dream to work together. Destiny took me to the United States a land of opportunity. Here I set a goal that i will create a variety of arts and crafts that I have learned as a child. The hand weaved textiles are made in Peru and other indigenous materials come from the Amazon. Perfect opportunity for my sisters and I to work together. She is my business point of contact. She is also a professional seamstress and an expert buyer of my textiles. My father is a self taught tailor, I learned from him my sewing techniques.
Seven years ago I moved to Texas and worked an eight to five job. I was not happy doing this kind of work. I started my own business, creating beautiful seed and semi precious jewelry, bags purses, back packs etc. I spend about 30 hrs weekly creating and designing my items. I forse my self continue to expand my business and Etsy has been an excellent launching pad for expansion. Creativity is endless, I love the vision of creating!
