I really started making jewelry because I love jewelry so much. Jewelry was always a special thing that I shared with my mother--I remember admiring her jewelry as a young girl. As I grew older, jewelry became a way of celebrating a rite of passage--a necklace was a token from my mother for special birthdays, graduations, and other occasions.
Jewelry continues to be a shared event for myself and my mother, as we make jewelry together whenever we get a chance, although it isn't very often--we live across the country from each other.
I love the place that jewelry has across cultures, countries, social groups, throughout history, and now on etsy. It is with genuine pride and enthusiasm that I shop for jewelry and sell jewelry on etsy. It means a lot to me that I could create something for other people that they find beautiful or that could even mark a special moment in their life.
I devote most of my time to teaching. As a special educator in a Title I district and a mother of a two-year-old, making jewelry is a labor of love that I enjoy when I have some rare extra time.
