I first studied art with my paternal Grandmother Phyllis Anne Erlewine. She was a classically trained professional artist who fostered my creativity and empowered me as an artist. She was my art mentor throughout childhood and my closest companion throughout my adolescent years. She was the first to teach me the beauty of unconditional love. It is from this place, this transmission of the heart, from which I create this tender play of color and light embodied in my work.

I think of my paintings as ways to look out from our perceived reality, as well as a way to look within to where we are touched by what we see. What remains on the canvas to behold is the experience of 'finding out'. Once completed, this art form has a life force of collected present moments of exploration, a vitality, a movement to it that others can relate to, interact with, and be inspired by. Through this meditation, I seek to inspire by reaching beyond my identity and into the heart of the birth of creativity. I am a 'seed saver' of intuitive expression. May we never forget what is possible within the realm of our own expression. My ambition is for my paintings to hold 'brave space' for this reality.
