My Evolution of Fusing Glass

My glass studio started out in my home as a hobby. I was always interested in dichroic glass jewelry and would treat myself to a piece at a local store for my birthday each year. I was a part time hairstylist (and still am) with a small business (which my husband and I still run) and young kids at home (which are much older now!). I much needed to get out and do something creative, so I signed up for a glass fusing class at my local art center. I was hooked! I became friends with my teacher who then offered up her wealth of information. She became my mentor until she moved away a short time later. I then began to learn on my own. I took a few of my pieces to the salon and showed my clients and they asked if they were for sale. And that's how it began. In the beginning, I traveled around to local art shows. I've now grow into a larger studio space in the heart of the Benton Harbor Arts District. Located inside a very creative building that also houses one of the BEST breakfast cafes in town along with numerous other artists. I don't have to do the travel circuit anymore. The people come to me. My Etsy shop has allowed my art to have a global presence. I love what I do and I love the idea that people around the world may have a piece of my art glass around their neck, or decorating their home or yard and that they love to look at it every day.
