As usual I have been working hard to create some new items for my shop. Stay tuned for some exciting new items.
Baskets are functional objects created for a purpose. I create miniature wearable baskets using a coiling basket technique. The wearable baskets are able to hold small objects like; cell phones, keys, business cards etc. or nothing at all.
I earned my BFA from the University of Louisville with a major in textiles. That is where I learned the coiling technique. I love everything about the process. I can create art wherever I go. I work on baskets all the time, at the doctors office, while camping, on long road trips. All I need is a piece of rope some threads and a few needles. My studio is where ever I am at the moment.
I love sharing what I do. In Kentucky this technique is not seen a lot so it is unique. But I have made it my own with the use of colors and patterns that are non traditional.
