Announcement I love fabric! So I make things out of all kinds of fabric. I love to make quilts, especially baby quilts, and I think pillows are great fun to make and see in use. I started with the book weights because I love to eat and read and you need to use your hands and still keep your book open to do that. Then I figured out they were useful for reading at the pool or beach, cooking and all the paperwork a person has. Thus the Open Book Zoo began. I hope you like my store! Thanks!!

My own book weight is a giraffe.
My personal favorite quilt. I hardly have any that I have kept, but this one my husband loved and wouldn't let me sell.
My hubby made me this stained glass star fish. I love it!
Pillows are so fun to make--so fast in comparison to a quilt.

It Started at the Library

I started making book weights because when I worked at the Library, we all read on our lunch breaks. Can't eat and hold open a book at the same time. I knew there had to be a better way---so the Open Book Zoo was born!
I have been a professional quilter for over 20 years, and when I retired, I decided to teach quilting and make more quilts---how fun is that!! So the quilts went on to Etsy as well.
Then a friend suggested making pillows, as I have zillions of kinds/yards/colors/patterns of fabric. So that was added to the mix.
Now my husband is retired, and he makes great stained glass-the real kind--and so we put him in as well. Now we both love making pretty items to sell.
