Chicago-based graphic designer Jenny Beorkrem designed the original typographic neighborhood map of Chicago in 2007, using the letters of each neighborhood name and arranging them to fit in the area of the neighborhood. Since then, her distinct map design has become recognized by design "nerds" and map lovers around the world. Ork Posters now offers map designs for over 20 U.S. and international cities and diagrams of the heart and the brain, and is adding new designs each year.

Shipping
Posters are rolled in a plastic sleeve, then shipped in a sturdy cardboard mailing tube. Small posters (11x14, 11x17, 12.5x12.5, 12.5x15) are shipped in a flat cardboard mailer. Frames ship in sturdy cardboard packaging.
Typical shipping time via the standard option (USPS First Class Mail) is 3-7 business days within the US. This shipping timeline is not guaranteed by USPS. UPS Ground is 1-4 business days depending on zip code. We're happy to work with you to hit your deadline - please send a message for more details.
International shipments ship via USPS First Class Mail International. Select items (unframed Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver, Canada, Heart, and Brain posters) shipping to Canadian addresses ship via Canada Post.
Poster vs. Screenprint
A screen print is made using a stencil process in which the print's image is superimposed on a very fine mesh screen. Ink is then squeegeed through the screen onto the paper. The result is a less exact print than the professionally printed posters, but the non-professional look of screen prints has become a significant cultural aesthetic. The ink on the prints is thick enough to see a slight bit of depth (and can be felt), whereas on the professionally printed posters, the ink soaks into the paper and is flat. Our digitally printed posters are printed by an employee-owned press here in Chicago, and screenprints are done either by us in our studio or by other printers in the city.

We do not offer digital downloads of our graphics. We sometimes do license the images for various projects - send us a message with your idea.
