This skirt was exactly what I ordered, the seller was wonderfully responsive and changed the cut from a full circle to more of a half circle as I requested. However, unless your hips and waist are close to the same size, the transition from non-stretchy tweed to the elastic band is too much fabric and looks unflattering. The skirt would look so much better with a zipper and waistband to emphasize the narrowest part of the waist before flaring out. I'm taking mine to a local tailor to try to salvage it, but I am disappointed with the design.

I was not happy that my orders were received after the event I wanted them for, and emailed the vendor about. They were shipped over a week after the vendor said she would ship them. Also, the listing says that there are 20-30 yards of tulle in the petticoats. It is more like a scant 2 yards.

Honestly, it is one of my favorite skirts of all time. The pockets are perfect. The design is gorgeous. Chatting wtih Femia about sizing, colours, design was an absolutely pleasure. I cannot say enough about how amazing and brilliant this skirt is. Did buy three more.

Actually, when I saw your message, I decided to buy one of the coats. "I have received a closet full of vintage coats from a dear friend who in turn saved them from her Mother. My friend is trying to raise money because her husband lost his job due to CoVid and I am trying to help in my very small way." Due to the pandemic, everyone is having financial and emotional difficulties. Especially, I want to support my favourite vintage shops. I will take good care of the blue coat.

My thinking chair ~ where I peruse patterns, sewing books, design magazines and the occasional novel.

When asked by my Husband... my answer is always " Yes ~ I really DO need all this fabric!"

Oh what a petticoat can do!

Sadly I didn't discover petticoats till I was all grown up. All those missed years of colorful, happy fun! Have you tried one yet? They are lovely things - instantly creating a feeling that you must twirl and spin. A happy feeling.
I wanted to share that feeling with every lady I could reach.

Welcome to Porshes Place - my tiny little corner of the Etsy world.

I am first and foremost a family lady. But, as my Husband likes to teasingly remind me, that is followed closely (sometimes too closely!) by a passionate love for fabric, patterns, sewing machines, books and design magazines. My petticoat and skirt ideas generally start as sketches and side notes in the books I am reading, the magazines I am browsing or the catalogs I am scouring over. From there, I hunt down the fabric that I think will best communicate my idea in the flesh. Then I get to work.

Listening to Agatha Christie or Jane Austen while I sew, I can lose myself for hours in my workshop - stitching and fitting my new creation on my ever-willing mannequin. Each piece is unique in design. Practical in nature too - I love to add pockets wherever I can! Added to this is my perfectionist nature - a real bonus for a Boutique owner. I never miss an opportunity to take notice of the details in my designs. They add a little something I think.

Please check back each season for a few new pieces that can introduce a little whimsy to your wardrobe. I will keep making beautiful and ethereal pieces that will spark your imagination, fuel your smile and above all make you feel oh-so-pretty!
