Thank you for taking the time to visit my shop--I hope you find something that interests you.
I use a combination of unaltered public domain classic art, artwork created or sold by talented Etsy artists and shopkeepers, and my own collages in my art magnets and jewelry. In these, I always use free-use clipart, royalty-free art, and the aforementioned public domain photographs. Because copyright laws are somewhat fluid, some images may come or go, but I always strive to protect others' intellectual property rights.
While making all the magnets is lovely, I enjoy creating original collages most of all. These let me draw from my antique books, postcards, and other ephemera I've been collecting since I was a little girl, when I first purchased a banged-up cardboard box of intimate memories at an estate sale. It was bursting with postcards dating back to the late 1800s, love letters, family photos, and a few buttons. Even though I was young, this find moved me deeply, and I've continued to collect postcards, photographs, stereoscopic cards, buttons, and other scraps of loveliness for the rest of my life.
The things I love show up in my images: forests, gardens, birds--especially crows and ravens. I am a lover of vintage and history (especially the 19th century, sparked by my find of that box), and I often learn a great deal when I make and research my magnet sets. I'm drawn to folk tales, historical songs, and the macabre and the romantic.
My wares are handmade in my creek-side studio amongst the redwood trees. It's a beautiful, serene environment, and my Molly dog, husband, or best friend wanders in from time to time. I'm so glad to have reopened after being closed for the better part of six truly challenging years. I appreciate my customers and strive to make durable, affordable little pieces of art to grace your favorite magnetic surface, wear around your neck, or encircle your wrist. I'm planning more designs, so come back soon.
I want to shout out to three of the brilliant artwork shops I frequent; MrsCogsCrafts.etsy.com, DigitalCurio.etsy.com, and TalesOfEphemera.etsy.com.
Thanks again for visiting and supporting my small shop!
