It's your chance to own some of the rearest hand made Mokume gane in the world.

Royston

My speciality is making unusual bespoke jewellery from laminated metals (mokume Gane) as well as stainless damascus steel and all the traditional metals, which I hand craft at my workshop in Surrey, to create jewellery works of art for the discerning collector.

The process of pattern welded metals is also known by a Japanese name of Mokume Gane (pronounced mok - um - ai gah - nee), the translation means wood grained metal.

I have taken this highly skilled process and pushed it further than the traditional patterns associated with this art, developing my own unique patterns, metal combinations and style.

In recent years these laminated metal jewellery, known as Mokume Gane have gained more notariety among collectors and individuals looking for that special one off item. Items that are collectable pieces, and unlike much of the jewellery that is found made today, truly it is bespoke.

This process is one of the rarest forms of metal work internationaly recognized and practiced in the world, as it takes most practitioners years to perfect to a standard that makes it a viable art form. This is why there are but a few dedicated artisans world wide, and why the pieces made are always made bespoke for the individual.

All of my pieces are bespoke items, made to order, and the website shows the range of items I can make, please contact me to discuss the type of piece you would like making. It is particularly well suited to wedding rings, as the couple can have exact duplicate rings made, from the same laminated block, of which these rings can never be reproduced again.

Item prices range from £150 - £10,000 depending on the piece, all items are completed to your requirements. I do also produce one off pieces ready for immediate sale, please contact my sales manager via email to have a viewing of this work.

When Christmas came around this year, I already knew what I wanted to get for my girlfriend - A Mokume Gane ring. Unfortunately, that was about all I knew. After shopping around extensively, I found Royston's works and was taken with their beauty and uniqueness. While I was skeptical at first about the price, after checking around, however, I found that this was a very fair price for handcrafted jewelry. I contacted Royston, telling him that I wanted the ring but I don't really understand jewelry at all. He walked me through the entire process from beginning to end, as well as providing updates on the status of the ring regularly. n nWhen the ring arrived a few weeks later (Well ahead of schedule, thanks Royston!) I was very excited to open it and find out what I had spent my money on. I'm happy to say that the pictures here do Royston's work no justice at all. The subtlety of Mokume Gane is something you have to experience in person, and Royston's work was no exception. n nI'll be giving the ring to my girlfriend when she arrives here next week. If she's even a fraction as thrilled as I am with it, then I consider the gift well worth it. I'm sure she will be. Thanks Royston!
