Rubeania Fiber Arts

Announcement    Welcome to my shop. If you see something that you like, but it’s not the right color, contact me through etsy conversation and I will try to oblige you. I have an extensive collection of colored crochet and tatting thread to work with. I have been crocheting for longer than I can remember. About 20 years ago I put down yarn and picked up thread and never went back. I crocheted doilies, runners, even bed spreads. One day I came across a vintage pattern for a hat band with little 3-D roses on it. Suddenly I was hooked (pun intended) on flowers. I searched high and low for flower patterns and found only a few, mostly small embellishments. The gladiola pattern is one that I found, but it was floppy and squished down when you wore it. That is when I started experimenting with stiffening and wire.
The little sail boats literally were born of a dream. I Live on Nantucket Island half of each year and have always loved the Nantucket Rainbow Fleet beetle cats. One night I dreamed that there were several miniature crocheted rainbow fleet boats sitting on a mantel. I awoke and started working on the pattern. It took me a year of trial and error before I was satisfied with the results of my work.
A few years back I took up tatting. It was an easy transition for me and has become my favorite pastime. I love to tat and as my husbands says, if I don't sell some tatting it will soon fill up the house.
