Hi There, My name is Samantha, I find that weird because hardly anyone calls me that, it's usually either Sam or Sammy. I live in Berkshire with my Husband and two cats.
I have an online store selling fabric and Haberdashery called Sew Crafty which I have been running for almost 15 years. We had a bricks and mortar store until a couple of years ago when our online business overtook the need for a physical location. I have to joy of working with my Mum almost every day, and I get to play with beautiful things that I love.
Two years ago we launched our product for the first time which was our Sewing Journal, six months later that was joined by craft, dressmaking and knitting version. Then last year we launched a mini jewellery and enamel pin badge collection. I am more than thrilled that I get to use my product design background to create products for my business.
Over the years I have sold a number of my handmade products online and at events including customised toys, fascinators, hats, greetings cards, embroidery and jewellery. I also love making photorealistic fan art drawings of my favourite celebrities, watercolour painting and scrapbooking. Over the last six years, I have used my crafty background to support the blog I write with my best friend Heather called Live it. Love it. Make it. We blog about our crafty adventures, places we visit, designer makers we love and occasionally a cheeky DIY tutorial.
As a freelance designer, I have produced sewing and craft projects.and written articels for magazines such as Sewing World, Simply Sewing, Reloved and Mollie Makes. More recently I have appeared on the Sewing Quarter television channel as a guest designer racking up over 40 live appearances demonstrating sewing projects and techniques.
My husband and I started up a little photography business a few years ago now which has been so lovely as we have been able to photograph a few of our close friend's weddings and special events. It has pushed me to become a better photographer, and now I shoot, style and edit all the images that appear on our online store as well as the majority of editorial photos for our blog.
I think I am what they call a jack of all trades, especially when it comes to crafts. I like to think I can turn my hand to anything and If I don't know how to do something I will take the time to learn.
