Welcome to the cat in the shoe a marvel of hand-made creatures and curiosities.

A world of imagination and possibility expressed through the medium of repurposed materials. Stitched stuffed and embellished by hand.

The cat in the shoe is the creation of Lucy Brasher a self taught textiles artist based in Dorset by the sea, trained in fine art and photography, she found a love for textiles.
'Fabric is a forgiving and flexible medium to work with, it can become anything it wishes even though it began it's life as something else. An old jumper, an unloved leather jacket, a scrap of lace and an offcut of felt. In my mind these could become a whimsical being straight from the pages of a book you read as a child.'

I am a self taught textile sculptor creating individual pieces from reclaimed and re- purposed fabrics. My work focuses mainly on the animal form incorporating the human element. My pieces have a touch of whimsy with a darker undertone much like the fables and folklore that have influenced them.

Please do bare in mind that these creations are textile art pieces and are not sold as toys for small children, as they are hand made and they cannot endure a lot of vigourous play.

Custom Orders: For all Custom orders I ask for a 50% deposit to be paid on ordering. The remaining 50% plus postage will be invoiced once the piece/pieces are made to the deadline we have agreed.
