I am a teacher for nine months of the year. The other three are devoted to nature photography. I go out to the still-wild places of America and seek out the raw beauty that can be found there. National Parks, refuges, and private animal shelters are some of my favorite destinations. I hope to bring back a small part of the beauty found there to inspire others to seek beautiful things.
My philosophy of photography can be summed up with the ancient Greek word, Eros. Eros means the passionate kind of love, involving symmetry, shape and color, but also a vitality that gives the passion its sense of immediacy. With every photograph I take, I hope to capture a fragment of that vitality.
