In early 2014 I changed direction quite drastically. I closed my Etsy shop, stopped going to fairs and started making websites and coaching women through the process of finding their alter ego. I've always blogged and photographed my life, and I switched line dance for burlesque in 2011 or thereabouts.
I loved where I was heading, but without my jewellery shop I was missing the physical processes of making something. One rainy Sunday, I found myself at my much-neglected jewellery bench with stamps and ink and wood, wire and pliers and chain.
While I was playing with new designs and losing myself in the joy of just making, I realised how my jewellery could tie in with my main direction.
From my online homes (carlalouise.com and unfurlingyourwings.com), I help women find and embrace their alter ego, kickstart their creativity, feel good in their own skin and step into the best versions of themselves. Why not create wearable reminders of these values, for my tribe of gorgeous women who have rediscovered who they are?
From that rainy Sunday grew a collection of talisman jewellery - simple pieces to wear often and to serve as a reminder of who you truly are, and the direction of your dreams. And that's what the Unfurling Etsy shop is all about - choosing a piece which will keep you focused and help you move towards the life you've always imagined.
