Announcement    Upcycled Glass Jewelry like no other. Church Glass transformed into elegant crystal like jewelry. Textured glass produced in the mid 1800's

Artisan-made reimagineerEd works.

The Glass story:

A work of art in itself, produced over a century ago for Benders Church in Pen Argyl, Pennsylvania, circa 1898. Fire in 2007 heavily damaged the church and the windows were salvaged by a worker who brought them to a local flea market, where I purchased them. I soon discovered these wobbly soot covered windows were falling apart and would not serve my original idea of putting colored stained glass panels in them. I set them aside in the shop, thinking I’ll think of something someday to use them for. The glass was black with soot and cracked badly. The Ah- Ha moment came after a few years later with just a glance and thought....... Diamonds! Those little squares look like diamonds.

Today the glass has found new life in my work, one little glimmer at a time… Enjoy.

Thank you for stopping by, I'm more than happy to answer any inquiries. I promise a prompt reply

Frequently asked questions

Why is the glass clear?

Benders church was founded as a Mennonite missionary church. Mennonites are sometimes referred to as "plain people" who are indistinguishable in dress and appearance from the general population. This plain philosophy carries through in all aspects of their community and life. Therefore plain textured glass was used.

Are leverback posts for pierced ears?

Yes

The leverback is a type of earring enclosure. It features a spring loaded lever that is attached to a wire, which is looped through the ear. The lever is connected by a hinge. So just a mere push of the leverback causes the earring to clasp close completely at the back, and remain safely fastened to the ear.
