Rabbit Sculpture Wood fired Stoneware
Description
This is from our last 2008 firing. This sculpture is of a rabbit leaping over a base of Clover, plantain, dandelions and grasses. The sculpture is hand built using coil and pinch methods, and is painted with colored slips and some glazes. It was fired once in a wood fueled kiln. Salt brine was shot into the kiln at the very end of the firing, giving the piece an all over glaze.
The colors are muted and natural, and there is a gloss on the eyes giving them a very lifelike shine. The base is done in shades of green, and supports the leaping rabbit without distracting.
Height 8 inches 20 centimeters
Length of Rabbit front toe to back heel 9 inches 25 cm
Base 7 inches x 3 1/2 inches
This piece is fired to stoneware temperatures and is weather proof in most climates. I would recommend bringing it inside in harsh winter conditions.
