The samurai were the Japanese warriors, trained in martial arts, fine art, poetry, music, and all traditional arts of Japan. Origami, one of the traditional arts of Japan, is the fine art of aper folding. Samurai were expected to know this as well.

The Japanese Peace Crane is a special origami design, renowned throughout the world as a symbol of peace. In third grade I was told the story of a little girl in Japan whose parents survived the bombing in Hiroshima only to find their daughter was dying of leukemia. The young girl attempted to fold 1000 paper cranes so her wish for world peace would come true. Sadly, she died before her cranes were finished. This story was so profound to me, that I have made peace cranes ever since, for some 25+ years now, with any little piece of paper I have found. I make peace cranes every year for International Peace Day (November 17) as well as for decorations and gifts all year round.

These cranes are dipped in epoxy and hung to dry until they are solid plastic coated. This crane is waterproof and very sturdy. It is decorated with some matching glass beads.

These earrings are about 2 inches long, hung from surgical steel earwires with matching glass beads. They come in a matching.
