This purse was made to participate in an artist play date that happens each Thursday. A wonderful lady who also has an Etsy shop here (Her shop name is DoodleStar) is the owner of the blog. The blog is called Thursday Sweet Treat. Each Friday a theme is announced and we create works in response to the theme. The following Thursday, all of our works are shown on the blog. It's lots of fun.

This weeks theme is actually a pick your own from the last 18 themes. I picked “the fire within”.

This purse was made from the waist part of a pair of red mens 501 Levi jeans (yes, mens…size 31 X 30) The flap was made from a piece of light blue jeans from another project. This flap is slightly asymetrical (I tried it straight and it didn't "do" anything for me). The flap has been pre-frayed and top stitched (zig-zagged) with red, orange and yellow thread (it reminds me of fire) I have also sewn around the flap with blue (the same color as the jean) to make sure as you wash this purse it will not fray too much. The purse is unlined but it has been double machine stitched across the bottom seam.

This will be great for a large purse or a mini book bag, the one picture shows how well text books fit in the bag.

Wash as you would any pair of jeans. They are already slightly faded, but please do not was them with anything light colored...just in case they are not done bleeding.

I can also take a pair of your old jeans (or pants) and make them into a purse or bag…it’s a good thing to do with those jeans that you will never be wearing again, or for the jeans that your child loved and always wore until they no longer fit. Just convo me and we’ll talk…

My shop is a pet-free, smoke free shop. All upcycled items have been laundered in perfume and dye free laundry detergent and fabric softener, prior to making the items.
