Pink Basil Backgammon Pendant (The Exception to the Rule)

Up until this very minute, Gangbusters has always been strictly about one-of-a-kind jewelry made from clippings of old comic books, vintage magazines, sheet music, and other cool commercially-published art. And Gangbusters is still very much about those things. However, from now on, Gangbusters is also very much about another thing:

The pendant in this listing is handmade from a vintage backgammon piece, which makes it sort of one-of-a-kind because there will be subtle variations. But there are others like it, and that is made possible by two things:

1. The art is an original illustration by yours truly and I can print as many as I want. I am the boss of this art.
2. This particular backgammon set actually had a fair few pieces that look quite similar indeed, and I bet there are other sets to be had out there that are just like it. I may come across a set like that someday and reopen the edition. I may not.

So now that you understand what we're talking about here, I'm ready to tell you about it.

The cream-colored acrylic game piece has been complemented with a contemporary illustration of a cute little leaf, in pretty pinks and purples. The background has some variation and light texture, which is created by hand. The look is serene and cheerful. And on top of the image, sealing it for eternity to its base, is a layer of very hard, glasslike resin. It's there for protection and irresistible shininess all at once. And it's doing a heck of a job.

The game piece is about 1 1/4" in diameter and in the 3/8"-thick range, excluding the bail, which is silver-plated and attached with heavy-duty epoxy. (Chain not included.)

Take good care of your resin jewelry! It's water resistant, not waterproof. Try not to submerge it in water and everybody will be happy. Even you.
