A Mormon cricket clings to a stone, one of the only things it won't eat. Everything else, including other Mormon Crickets, is fair game!

Mormon crickets aren't actually crickets, they're from the katydid family. The "mormon" part is because swarms of these insects nearly wiped out the crops at the first Mormon (Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) settlement in Utah. It was compared t one of the Biblical plagues, but swarms of these insects are common in the area. They just peak in some years.
