We make funny illustrated maps of London, Scotland, Yorkshire and Norfolk, full of local sayings, phrases and dialect.
No one has made maps like these before so they will make a great present for anyone with links to London, Norfolk, Scotland or Yorkshire. A lot of the phrases are original, some are old favourites, and the illustrations are hand-drawn
Our maps are professionally printed with good inks on high-quality paper and are available in frames, mounts or as prints.
You can also visit our website at almostmaps.co.uk - where you'll find a guide to all the phrases on the maps - and a bit more detail about how we made them. We are on Instagram and Facebook too.
We are a new business, and even newer to Etsy, so we are delighted to offer free shipping.
We can print up to A1 but can produce even larger sizes by special arrangement.

Bought this print this print to remind us of where we grew up and love it! All the sayings are exactly as they are, even down to place names like Keefley and 'alifax. Really great quality and the frame is lovely too. Would certainly recommend.

I purchased two of the London maps because I found them wonderfully humorous--one for us and one as a housewarming gift. The sayings and depictions are well researched and extremely fitting and funny for the locations. It is the type of map I suspect our guests will stare at for some time to read all the sayings. The maps arrived well-packaged and two days after I ordered it. We are visiting some friends in Scotland and will be purchasing the Scotland map for our hosts as well.

Maps and Sayings

Our first four maps - Norfolk, London, Yorkshire and Scotland - all sprung from family or personal connections to these places. I grew up in Norfolk and Scotland, worked in London for years and have family from Yorkshire. I love words and maps so wondered if the two could be combined into designs celebrating accents, dialect and character. It took four years for some sketches on a kitchen table to become the first of our current series of illustrated maps with their unique phrases and sayings. We hope they brighten your day.
