4 out of 5 starsRough inside, and edges causing some slight irritation from the fiberglass in the hands so I rubbed it down with paper until smoother. Seemed to work. Deze sounds great

5 out of 5 starsPerfect. Fibreglass resonators are almost always a reliable replacement for gourds, especially for live situations. Don't let tradition cloud your judgment about your professional equipment, a real gourd deze doesn't inherently sound any better and is very fragile. Important note: this larger-sized deze is VERY wide, best-suited for a good full-sized mbira in a medium to low tuning. This is ideal for mbira dza vadzimu, but if you're playing nyunga nyunga, kalimba, or even some mbiras in higher tuning like katsanzaira, the smaller model of fibreglass deze is probably more suitable (although I personally do make katsanzaira work in this with a very long stick) You know you've got a good deze when it makes you want to buy more mbiras, and this one is making me consider nemakonde tuning (very big and low instrument required)
