Este pequeño proyecto surgió del anhelo de encontrar una vía de escape durante el confinamiento, un sentimiento compartido por muchos que han sufrido durante los últimos años. A nuestra manera, todos hemos tenido que ser como Rufty Tufty.
Quería capturar algo de esa magia que tanto extrañaba; y la cultura de escapar y compartir, de estar juntos en esto, contra viento y marea. He intentado hacerlo de la única manera que sé: dibujando y fotografiando los lugares que albergan la cultura más asombrosa, donde cualquiera puede ser un Rufty Tufty.
Espero haberles hecho justicia a estos lugares sencillos pero hermosos. Me gusta pensar que tal vez alguien vea esto y recuerde con cariño momentos en los que disfrutó de una escapada.
This little project began as a yearning for a sense of escape during lockdown - a feeling shared by many who have struggled through the last few years. In our own way we've all had to be a Rufty Tufty.
I wanted to capture some of that magic I missed so dearly; and the culture of escaping and sharing, of being in it together, against the elements. I’ve tried to do this in the only way I know how: by drawing and photographing the places that are home to the most amazing culture, where anyone can be a Rufty Tufty.
I hope I’ve done these simple but beautiful places justice. I like to think that maybe someone will see this and recall fond memories of times they enjoyed an escape.
