TalkCard was born first in my life and only later did it become a project.

I'm the mother of an autistic girl, and I know what it's like to see your daughter have something to say, but not always be able to find the words to do it. Sometimes it's not that she doesn't want to speak. It's just that, in that moment, speaking is too difficult.

From there I started thinking about something simple: if words don't come through, why not give her another way to communicate?

That's how TalkCard started.

At first, I was thinking mainly of cards that allowed me to say very concrete things: "I need a break," "It's too loud," "I don't understand," "Don't touch me," "I need help." Simple phrases, but at the right time, they can make a huge difference.

Then the project grew. Digital materials, social stories, and visual routines also arrived, always with the same underlying idea: to help children and teens understand, express themselves, and be understood a little more easily.

I didn't create TalkCard with a product in mind. I built it based on something I know from real life. And that's exactly what I want to maintain in everything I create: simple, concrete tools designed for real-life situations.

TalkCard è nato prima nella mia vita e solo dopo è diventato un progetto.

Sono la mamma di una ragazza autistica e so cosa significa vedere tua figlia avere qualcosa da dire, ma non riuscire sempre a trovare le parole per farlo. A volte non è che non voglia parlare. Semplicemente, in quel momento, parlare è troppo difficile.

Da lì ho cominciato a pensare a qualcosa di semplice: se le parole non arrivano, perché non darle un altro modo per comunicare?

È così che è iniziato TalkCard.

All'inizio pensavo soprattutto a delle carte che permettessero di dire cose molto concrete: “ho bisogno di una pausa”, “c'è troppo rumore”, “non ho capito”, “non mi toccare”, “ho bisogno di aiuto”. Frasi semplici, ma che nel momento giusto possono fare una grande differenza.

Poi il progetto è cresciuto. Sono arrivati anche materiali digitali, storie sociali e routine visive, sempre con la stessa idea alla base: aiutare bambini e ragazzi a capire, esprimersi e farsi capire un po' più facilmente.

Non ho creato TalkCard pensando a un prodotto da vendere. L'ho creato partendo da qualcosa che conosco nella vita vera. Ed è proprio questo che voglio mantenere in ogni cosa che realizzo: strumenti semplici, concreti e pensati per situazioni che succedono davvero.
