Our Story
Bitaclan started as a conversation between two friends from Nigeria, far from home, studying in Birmingham, United Kingdom.
Like most diaspora friendships, it became a space to hold onto something: the food we missed, the music our parents played, the proverbs we only half-understood until we were grown. Somewhere between homesickness and pride, an idea took shape. What if we made our culture more visible, more fun, more meaningful? The kind of educational that actually feels alive.
That idea has grown into something bigger than either of us imagined. Bitaclan became a window, a way of storytelling the lives of everyday Africans, not just the headlines or the history books, but the textures of daily life that rarely get celebrated out loud. It became a gathering place for Africans scattered across cities and continents, all carrying versions of the same home in different ways.
This store is the newest chapter of that story. Every piece here is a small act of visual storytelling, a way of putting the beauty of cultures from across Africa into something you can hold, hang, and live with. Our hope is simple: that whatever you bring home from this shop carries a little piece of belonging with it. A sense of pride. A flicker of joy, in whatever space it finds itself, a dorm room, a first apartment, a family kitchen thousands of miles from where the story began.
If you've ever felt the particular ache of being far from home while still carrying it everywhere you go, you already understand what we're building here.
Welcome to Bitaclan. Let's celebrate home together.
