I have always loved wood, the warmth and soul that each piece has. Even if it doesn't look like much every piece can be transformed into a uniquely beautiful object. A proud native Scot, I take pride in every piece that I make.

Frequently asked questions
Toolheads: Care instructions
Tungsten Carbide makes for a far more effective trimming tool that can maintain its sharp cutting edge much longer and generally produces a better finish on pottery items.
It's composed of a very hard material, twice as dense as steel, and ranks about 9 on the Mohs scale, which is in the same hardness category as diamond.
Unlike steel, which can become dull over time, it is inflexible and somewhat brittle and care must be taken not to try and bend the tool, bump it against hard surfaces or objects, drop it, or allow it to move loosely around in a tool box when traveling.
For this reason we provide a bespoke, purpose-made toolbox with each tool in order to protect the tool heads properly.
Handles: Care instructions
Our range of tool handles are hand-turned from the highest quality hardwoods and we inspect each one carefully for any flaws or distress points.
A stainless steel shaft, also called a tang, is embedded deeply into the handle to allow the tool head chuck to be fastened securely.
Handles are finished with either a durable coating of Epifanes Yacht Varnish - the same varnish used for the iconic Italian Riva boats - which creates a glossy, waterproof surface, or else sealed with a double coating of shellac and wax for a smooth satin finish which may need rewaxing occasionally if exposed to a lot of water.
Quick-Change Chuck system:
Our unique chuck system allows potters to quickly and effectively switch from one toolhead to another, thus eliminating the need for multiple trimming tools. The chucks are fastened onto the steel tang of the tool handle via two hex-head grub screws which can be effortlessly adjusted should they become loose. A hex tool for this purpose will be included in the toolbox set.
Replacements and Repairs:

Simply reach out to us with a brief description of the problem and a clear picture of the full toolset and we will advise on the best course of action.
