Let there be light.
I started blacksmithing fixing things on my little farm, in Hokkaido. I would leave my house before first light, (sun rise), and try to get my forging done before the day would start. As time went on, I found myself going earlier and earlier, creating things more out of joy than need. As the sun would rise, I would often contemplate my place in Gods creation. I believe that we all participate in the continuing creation of our world. Creation connects us to something bigger than ourselves. I , for my part, try to create things that are both sincere and beautiful. Forging for me is an emotive act. Each piece has a vibe. Some are functional, some are decorative, all are meant to be shared.
I am Colter.
I am First Light Forge.

Fun and Informative Disclaimer:
In an effort to adhere to Etsy’s ever changing policies, legal verbiage, their employee’s individual interpretations thereof, or any discrepancies in any of those, and/or any core value changes Etsy may experience, it is in the best interest of First Light Forge, and it’s almost universally kind, patient, and rational customer base to include these awesome common sense disclaimers about the handmade pieces that it creates as well as the processes and procedures of this shop.
Etsy is a generalized, large, online, marketplace, and you are working directly with a specific, small, craftsman. Etsy is not expected to have professional experience as a blacksmith, metal worker, or fabricator Nor are they required to be knowledgeable on the subject. By purchasing First Light Forge’s product on Etsy, you are acknowledging that First light Forge is the subject matter expert for its pieces and creations (and that you understand and have gone over all policies for Etsy and First Light Forge).
As all items are handmade to order; First Light Forge always does its best to meet and exceed the customers expectations. However, as this blacksmith currently lacks psychic abilities, any expectation outside what First Light Forge can reasonably imagine cannot be accounted for. Items for food use will be finished with a baked on oil, of bees wax finish, consistent with the process of finishing a cast iron pan. If you are unfamiliar with traditional cooking items, it is highly recommended to familiarize oneself with their care and use prior to purchasing.
