Ohara Prints: Nature Photography Reimagined as Naturalist Art
Ohara Prints is an independent print studio dedicated to the beauty of the natural world and the timeless aesthetic of classical illustration. Based in the small rural town of Casterton in southwest Victoria, Australia, I craft museum-grade fine art prints for collectors around the globe.
The guiding philosophy behind my studio is a deep appreciation for the intricate, the enduring, and the wild. I create and curate artworks that invite a sense of curiosity and quiet wonder into your everyday spaces.
🖼️ THE ARTWORKS: TWO COLLECTIONS
Original Photo Art
The heart of the studio is my Original Photo Art collection. As a nature photographer, I have travelled around Australia and the world to capture wildlife and landscapes. Back in the studio, I use specialized digital editing to meticulously translate my original photographs into the highly detailed, scientific aesthetic of 19th-century woodcuts and naturalist lithographs. Every element in these works originates from a real moment in the wild, reimagined through a classical lens.
The Vintage Archive
Alongside my original works, I offer a carefully curated selection of historically significant art sourced from major international institutions. Before any historic artwork becomes a print, it undergoes gentle, non-additive digital restoration. I never invent or replace missing elements; instead, I aim to honor the original artist while preserving the beautiful, subtle marks of age that tell the artwork's story.
💎 MUSEUM-GRADE CRAFTSMANSHIP
A great deal of care goes into the physical production of every piece. I do not outsource my printing to mass-production facilities. Every print is manufactured individually by me in my Casterton studio, allowing for strict quality control over every detail.
I use uncompromising, premium materials:
• Heavyweight 310gsm Canson Arches 100% cotton rag paper (acid-free and completely free of optical brighteners)
• Archival Canon Lucia Pro pigment inks
This combination ensures exceptional durability, superb color rendition, and deep blacks. Each piece is produced with the intention that it will be enjoyed for decades, remaining vibrant and fade-resistant for a lifetime.
Whether it is an original naturalist study or a restored piece of history, my goal is to provide you with a tactile, enduring piece of art that becomes a lasting presence in your home.
