Educational Construction Toy - Grada

INSPIRATION :
As an architect I wanted to introduce my son to the world of architecture and help him develop his imagination and spatial thinking through play. I decided to use wood building blocks as a starting point. What really made the difference was the fanatic love of my son for luminous watches. So I have made the city that he builds during the day illuminate at night without using any electricity or batteries. Thus I have found a way to introduce him to the idea of green energy as well.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION :
Grada is designed to guide children through their first steps to architecture. The set consists of simple architectural forms which can be combined in various ways in order to create the landscape of both real and imaginary cities. Powered only by sunlight the windows filled with glow resin illuminate up to six hours at night (resin have to be exposed to the sun or strong light for at least 30 min). Night lights give the children a perspective of a green future, where big cities can be powered only by green energy...or just scare the monsters away during bedtime.

Grada consists of multiple modular building blocks with basic and familiar shapes such as little houses, residential and administrative buildings. The idea is that simple forms can be easily combined in endless variations, which stimulates the creativity of the kids. There is no wrong way of building the city of your dreams, but as in real architecture you should learn to follow simple rules in order to get better results. For instance if the city is built close to a window it will benefit more of the natural sunlight so the buildings will Illuminate stronger and longer at night. Just like in real life more sunlight guarantees better energy efficiency.

Blocks are sanded to a smooth and soft finish and come packed in an eco-friendly box. Set consists of 40 handmade wooden blocks.
Suitable for children over 3 year old. Blocks respect European Toy Safety standards. Adult supervision and common sense is always recommended when child is playing with toys.
