It is also commonly known as lemon grass, lemongrass, barbed wire grass, silky heads, citronella grass, mosquito grass, fever grass, tanglad, hierba Luisa, or gavati chaha, amongst many others.

Although Lemongrass can be grown from seed it is a lengthy process and is easier to grow from clippings off a mature plant. As its name suggests Lemongrass has the delicate scent and flavor of lemons and is a key ingredient in Thai and Vietnamese cuisine.

Lemongrass spice is used for cooking savory dishes and meat, poultry, seafood and vegetable curries. It is also used in teas, pickles and for flavoring marinades.
