HOWDY! This 1" x 8" x 20" Red Cedar sign is an example of the unique sign I will make just for you! Combining the distinctive color and grain patterns of this beautiful wood with your personalized name and scenery, the two of us will create a truly one of a kind sign.

I start with 1" cedar, carefully matching each piece of wood to the message to be carved. The layout is all done freehand, as is the actual router carving, using several different V-groove bits to vary the width and depth of the cuts. The photos show a selection of potential layout styles and scenery, and colored lettering is also an option, for a small extra charge. Anything is possible...let me know what you want!. After the name(s) and scenery(?) are carved, the edges are scalloped, black paint is applied, and the entire board is finish sanded.

The final step is applying the clear protective sealer. All of my signs are sealed on the back and edges, along with the front, to make them as water and sun resistant as possible. This requires multiple coats of UV resistant polyurethane varnish; and each coat needs to dry thoroughly before the next is applied. Depending upon temperature and humidity, this process may take up to 5 or 6 days.

The completed sign will last for years (decades with proper refinishing) and be a totally unique addition to your, or a friend's, home or business.

Each sign comes complete with hanging and refinishing instructions. For outdoor use, I recommend that you bolt or screw your sign directly to the post or structure where it will be displayed. Hooks and chain or sawtooth hangers are not secure in high winds, and are not included, but if requested, I can drill a pair of small mounting holes.
