Buttons, buttons and more buttons!
If you have ever saved a button from a favourite outfit, run your fingers through a tub of buttons or just bought a button without a purpose (just 'cos you like it), then you are possibly suffering from the same addiction as me - I am a self-confessed button-aholic. I love to sort through my buttons and put them into jars of different colours and I especially like tracking down unusual buttons at markets and op shops. Yes, I have many buttons! However, there comes a time when collecting them just isn't enough - you have to wear and share! Buttons are so decorative they should not be confined to clothes, they should be displayed as the miniature works of art they are - as beautiful necklaces and bracelets.
I did a class one Saturday morning about ten years ago, and I haven't looked back. My first necklaces were, I'm not ashamed to admit, amateurish. However, over the years I have improved my technique and materials. I am confident that when you buy a Beaut Buttons piece of jewelry, you will be getting something that is colourful, wearable, comfortable and definitely unique. I take a lot of time to select each individual button (sometimes days!) before wiring them on a double strand of high quality tarnish resistant craft wire. Shank buttons (the ones with the fastening on the back) are usually placed between two flat buttons so their movement is restricted. I love colour and texture, shimmer and shine, I know you will enjoy wearing your Beaut Buttons jewelry as much as I enjoy making it. Cheers, Janet
