The Story so far...
I am a Heritage Illustrator & Craft Researcher with a passion for the weird, wonderful, and nearly forgotten. My work begins in the archives and the 'rabbit holes' of history, where I hunt for the hidden heritage of fibre arts- the stories of the makers, their tools and techniques that were almost left behind with time.
Controversial opinion: I think history is elitist. I think it shouldn't be locked away in museums, behind glass cabinets with 50 words to describe a lifetime. The heritage of fibre arts belongs in our hands, where it was always been for centuries.
I translate my research into accessible wall art, stationery and apparel. Every product in my shop reflects a specific piece of historical research. My illustrations are a celebration of the quirky, the practical and the deeply human side of textile history.
By supporting my at InstitchesbyImogen, you aren't just buying craft supplies; you're helping keep these historical narratives alive. Whether you're a knitter, crocheter, sewist of history lover, thank you for helping me bring these weird and wonderful stories back into the light.
