Engineering the "Un-Mountable"
It started with a 3D printer kit I bought for my son’s birthday. While he moved on to other hobbies, I became fascinated by the challenge of high-tolerance manufacturing. I spent years mastering the art of consistent, sturdy prints—unaware I was preparing to solve a problem that didn’t even exist yet.
In 2020, my neighborhood got AT&T Fiber. I was frustrated that the new BGW210 modem was designed like a giant textbook with no way to mount it to a wall. As someone who believes tech like this shouldn't clutter a workspace, I decided to engineer a solution myself!
After dozens of iterations, I developed a "snap-fit" bracket system that used the modem's own structural notches for a secure hold. It required no modifications to the ISP's hardware and maintained perfect airflow. Simple. Elegant. Functional.
I shared the design with the maker community and things took off from there. What started as a personal project quickly turned into a business when neighbors and fellow tech-enthusiasts began asking for their own.
Today, ModemMounts provides custom-engineered mounting solutions for a wide range of residential network gear. All our designs are over-engineered for durability and backed by a lifetime warranty.
