Hand printed, earth-friendly maps: a reminder of the people and places you love.
Native Maps was founded in our tiny attic-studio as I worked my way through grad school in Painting. Inspired by a love of my hometown, I set out to make attractive, local-inspired prints for the modern home. We still print in small batches by hand out of our studio in Knoxville, Tennessee.
MADE FOR LOCALS, BY LOCALS
Neighborhoods are organic. They grow and change with each generation. We work with a team of locals in each city to get the details just right. It may take a little longer, but we believe it's worth the wait. Every map you see here is truly local-approved.
HAND PRINTED
Screenprinting is a magical process. We love this process because it deposits a clean, tangible layer of ink onto our sturdy heavyweight paper, allowing for a greater range of color and texture. After we finalize each design, we burn a silkscreen and get to work hand-printing our maps.
NON TOXIC
Most screen printing processes, even vegetable-based inks, involve petroleum, high VOCs, and heavy solvent use. We use non-toxic water-based inks, the most eco-friendly inks available, which simply clean up with water and don't involve "curing". Most of our papers are 100% recycled and FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified, coming from the family owned, hydroelectric mill at the French Paper Company.
They say you should create products that you want to see in the world, and that's exactly what we did. Our prints are a little different. The paper is sturdier, the ink is more vibrant, and the texture will add a warm accent to any home.
