Where are your products made?

Most of our products were originally crafted in our workshop in Turkey, where Tanner Leatherstein learned the trade growing up in his father’s tannery. While our Turkish workshop has since closed, some items available on our website are still from this production.

We’re currently transitioning our production to Spain, specifically to our new partner workshop in Ubrique, a town renowned for its exceptional leather craftsmanship. Our latest collections, including the Sharon and Helens, are already being crafted there.

Soon, all our products will proudly carry the "Made in Spain" label.

There are marks and scratches on my product. Is this a defect?

No, marks and scratches on leather are not defects; they are natural features of the material. At PEGAI, we use minimal finishes on our leathers to highlight the natural beauty of the hide’s grain and celebrate the unique, imperfect elegance that nature intended.

These finishes don’t conceal imperfections like bug bites, veins, fence scratches, or other marks that reflect the animal’s life story. We view leather as a living material that deserves respect throughout the crafting process.

Can I personalize my items?

Yes, some of our products can be personalized, either through monogramming/embossing (fire-branded initials) or laser engraving.

Logos and artwork are typically engraved with our laser engraving machine, while initials (limited to a certain number of characters) are added to the leather using our embossing machine.

However, not all products are eligible for personalization. If you have any questions about your order, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us!

Care instructions

Luxurious leather showcases its natural grain, with vein marks, scratches, and color variations as signs of quality, not defects. To care for your leather:

- Cleaning: Gently remove dirt with a soft brush. Use a damp cloth with mild soap or leather cleaner for stains. Avoid harsh chemicals and soaking.

- Protection: Keep leather away from sunlight, heat, water, and sharp objects. Avoid temperature extremes.

- Maintenance: Conditioners are generally unnecessary; test waterproofing agents first. Avoid treatments on suede, nubuck, or distressed leathers.

- Storage: Store in a cool, dry place with breathable covers, avoiding plastic and direct contact with other materials.

Why was my ship-by date extended?

General Reason: We sometimes need to extend the ship-by date to ensure that your order receives the care and attention it deserves. Rest assured, we’re working hard to get your order out as soon as possible, and we aim to ship it within the week. We apologize for any delay and appreciate your understanding.

Waiting for Personalization Request: If we’re waiting for your personalization details, we’ll put your order on a brief hold until we receive your request. Once we have the information, we’ll proceed promptly.

Which items are returnable?

✳ Unused, Non-Personalized Items
These items can be returned within 30 days of delivery. The customer is responsible for arranging their own return shipping.

✳ Non-Personalized Incorrect Items
If you receive the wrong item, we’ll send you a pre-paid return label to ship it back to our workshop. We’ll then either replace it with the correct item or issue a full refund, based on your preference.

✳ Damaged & Defective Items
Please send us a photo of the damage or defect via Etsy messages, and we’ll assist with repairs or replacements.

Note: Personalized items that were correctly fulfilled and are not damaged or defective are non-refundable.

Why does my discounted item not qualify for free shipping, even though the listing shows "free shipping"?

Etsy automatically displays the "free shipping" tag on listings with an original price of $35 and above. However, if the item is currently discounted and the total order amount falls below $35, it no longer meets Etsy’s threshold for free shipping.

We understand this can be confusing. Unfortunately, we cannot remove the "free shipping" tag on our end without removing the current shop discount.
