I grew up in Northeast Texas near the city of Tyler, 60 miles from the Louisiana border and covered with pine trees, oil wells, and rolling hills. After graduating from Leverett’s Chapel ISD in 1966 I volunteered for the United States Air Force and served honorably for 4 years.
It wasn’t until my daughter and son were grown that I began exploring my interest in succulents. I was fascinated by the enormous variety of plants in various shapes, colors, textures and sizes. While mastering my propagation skills, I quickly ran out of planters; thus leading me to explore various methods of creating my own, resulting in what I now refer to as Rustic Pots.
Rustic Pots were refined over a period of 20 years and I have provided hundreds with my artistically designed and handcrafted succulent containers. Each pot is a one of a kind project with unique design and character based on the shape, texture, color, and materials used. I mix each batch of materials by hand, press it into a mold, shape the top of the cured pot with a Dremel tool, apply and blend stains, and seal them each individually. My tools include a mixing tub, scrapers, files, my drill and Dremel tool, and a variety of brushes for detailed work and sealing.
I humbly appreciate the support of my followers which allows me to continue my work during my later years of life.
May God bless you!
