Je m’appelle Simone, et je dessine et peins depuis que mes petits doigts potelés pouvaient attraper un crayon et un pinceau!
Je suis allé à l’université et je suis reparti avec un BFA, puis j’ai passé quelques années à travailler en freelance en tant qu’assistant artiste, peintre mural, faux finisseur, artiste de storyboard, illustrateur, constructeur de décors et peintre pour le théâtre off-Broadway à New York. Tout au long de mes diverses aventures professionnelles, j’ai continué à étudier l’art, en particulier le portrait traditionnel à l’huile à la School of Visual Art de Manhattan. Ensuite, l’amour m’a amené à Los Angeles de New York et comme mon monde était déjà bouleversé, j’ai décidé de me lancer et de travailler pour moi-même à peindre des portraits! J’ai épousé un homme merveilleux qui est écrivain et qui comprend parfaitement mon besoin de peindre, de peindre, de peindre!
J’aime peindre et j’ai besoin de faire de l’art tous les jours - ce n’est pas un choix pour moi. Je m’intéresse à toutes sortes de sujets, mais ce que j’aime le plus dans la peinture de portraits, c’est qu’ils sont si significatifs pour mes clients. Cela rend l’ensemble du processus d’autant plus spécial.
J’aime l’immédiateté et la subtilité de l’aquarelle. Ce n’est pas le seul médium dans lequel je travaille, mais c’est ce avec quoi je peins quotidiennement, qu’il s’agisse d’un portrait ou d’un croquis rapide de ma vie quotidienne.
Processus de portrait
Les portraits commencent par des photos qui m’ont été envoyées par etsy ou par e-mail, et une conversation sur la façon dont le client et moi envisageons le produit fini. Je fais ensuite un premier croquis et je le renvoie pour approbation avant de commencer à peindre. Je mets généralement à jour chaque client avec entre 1 et 5+ photos de processus au fur et à mesure, puis j’envoie un .jpg final pour approbation avant de mettre le portrait par la poste. Ce processus est le meilleur moyen de s’assurer que le produit final est tout simplement parfait.
En raison de la nature personnalisée des portraits, leur temps d’achèvement peut varier, surtout si je travaille sur plusieurs à la fois. La meilleure façon d’obtenir le portrait que vous voulez à temps pour quand vous en avez besoin est de vérifier avec moi mon délai d’exécution actuel et de me faire connaître votre date limite personnelle.

I go by the name Simone, and I have been drawing and painting since my chubby little fingers could grab a crayon and a brush!
I went to college and left with a BFA, then spent a few years working freelance as an artist assistant, mural painter, faux finisher, story board artist, illustrator, set builder and painter for off-Broadway theater in NY. All throughout my varied work adventures, I continued to study art, specifically traditional portraiture in oils at the School of Visual Art in Manhattan. Then, love brought me to LA from NY and since my world was already turned upside down, I decided to jump in and work for myself painting portraits! I married a wonderful man who is a writer and totally understands my need to paint, paint, paint!
I love to paint and I need to do art daily - it is not a choice for me. I am interested in all sorts of subject matters, but what I love most about painting portraits is that they are so meaningful to my customers. It makes the whole process that much more special.
I love the immediacy and subtlety of watercolor. It is not the only medium I work in, but it is what I paint with daily, whether a portrait or a quick sketch from my daily life.
Portrait Process
Portraits start with photos sent to me through etsy or email, and a conversation about how the client and I envision the finished product. I then do an initial sketch and send it back for approval before I start painting. I typically update each customer with anywhere from 1-5+ process photos as I go along, then send a final .jpg for approval before putting the portrait in the mail. This process is the best way to ensure that the final product is just perfect.
Because of the custom nature of the portraits, their completion time can vary, especially if I am working on several at once. The best way to get the portrait you want in time for when you need it is to check in with me about my current turnaround time, and let me know your personal deadline.
