The Story of Shari Lee Collections
Shari Lee Tellis was born in Troy, Alabama in 1961. Growing up in Alabama was very full of adventures while country living. At an early age Shari moved to Ann Abor, Michigan with her mother in 1968 at age 7. Living in Ann Abor exposed her to the arts and a diverse culture of people; of which she could never recall experiencing while living in the country hills of Alabama. The Owner and Artist of Shari Lee Collections started her journey in the art form of jewelry making, while working full-time with Ann Arbor Transportation in 2008. It all began as a hobby after finding herself at a local arts & craft store in need of a way to fix the zipper of her favorite jacket. She walked down the bead findings aisle, and creatively produced the idea to replace the jackets’ zipper pull with wire and beads. She found herself amused by her initiative-taking creation and inspired by her own talent! Let us just say, after that, she found herself interested in learning more about the craft by reading books and watching tutorials, which lead her into making more art, such as bracelets, necklaces, earrings and more…Here is a fun fact about the artist: Shari Lee is also an accomplished painter. She has generated a fine collection of art pieces using acrylic paints. She has exhibited her art collections in notable exhibitions and art shows throughout the State of Michigan since 2009. She knew she had a prominent place in the art community after winning first place at her first arts exhibition in Port Huron, Michigan, for her jewelry selections, and second place overall.
Shari’s philosophy is that art reflects the artist’s soul and is a way to express their thoughts and feelings. It is more than just making things “beautiful,” yet more of a true expression of who the artist is and what the artist is enthusiastic about. Shari’s journey as an artist is marked by her unique style and “one of a kind” creations. Her collection entails pieces of art that are rarely seen and never duplicated.
