The Sticky Dicky Design Story: A Quirky Tale of Creativity, Chaos, and Covid
Once upon a pandemic, in the throes of 2020, two people, Erin and John, found themselves elbow-deep in disinfectant wipes, toilet paper, and Zoom calls that lasted longer than anyone thought humanly possible. It was a time when "social distancing" became the new "cool," and face masks were the height of fashion. Yet, amid all the chaos, something magical was born.
It all started when Erin, a self-proclaimed “professional procrastinator” and lover of all things inappropriate and quirky, noticed her life was becoming...a bit too quiet. She could only rearrange her craft room so many times before she started wondering if she could actually make something with all that extra free time. Enter John, the IT wizard and occasional magician (depending on whether or not you asked him to fix a broken toilet), who had a strange obsession with miniatures and strategic board games.
Together, they made a decision that would forever alter the course of their lives, or at least their Etsy shop: "Let’s start a design business."
And thus, Sticky Dicky Design was born.
“Sticky” because, well, they loved making things that stuck around (like those fun, colorful vinyl stickers that never lose their charm). "Dicky" because... why not? It's a little cheeky, a little funny, and just the right amount of irreverent. They figured, if you can’t laugh in the middle of a pandemic, when can you?
While the world locked itself down, Erin and John locked themselves in their craft room, fueled by a bizarre mixture of caffeine, love for bad puns, and the occasional delivery of comfort food. It was chaos, it was creativity, and it was a lot of “how did we get here?” moments.
In the middle of it all, Erin and John realized something: they weren't just making stuff. They were creating moments—little bursts of joy that could bring a smile to someone's face when they needed it the most. And the best part? They were doing it together.
Fast forward to today, Sticky Dicky Design has grown from a late-night pandemic passion project into a thriving hub of unique, snarky, and downright fun designs. Erin still loves making things that make people laugh, and John still insists he can fix anything with duct tape and a bit of elbow grease (though we’re not always sure about that last one).
Their mantra? Life’s too short for boring designs.
So if you find yourself scrolling through their collection of stickers, magnets, jewelry, books, and more just know that every piece is made with love, laughter, and a little bit of the chaos that started it all. And remember: in a world full of serious, sometimes all you need is a good, sticky joke.
Welcome to Sticky Dicky Design and thanks so much for visiting. May your life always be as sticky as your sense of humor.
