Le créateur de Stitch Mischief
The maker behind Stitch Mischief

I never actually set out to have my own shop. It was all a bit of an accidental serendipitous development with the seed planted by two lovely humans.
“Stitch Mischief” was born on instagram, an account I created to share my crafty makes, mistakes, and experiments publicly and so as to not annoy friends and family on my private account. 🙈 I never expected anyone to actually follow along but simply wanted a photo journal of my making.
The friends mentioned above saw me experimenting with zipper sewing and bag making and as they both worked in a yarn shop, suggested I start selling my makes in the shop. I was beyond flattered and ecstatically excited as I raided my fabric stash and began making mountains of bags, with sewing pedal to the metal and ideas flying.
In common “me” style, I modified patterns, streamlined patterns and dreamed up and executed my own. To date, the only pattern I currently offer in the bag production line is the Finch Bucket. This bucket tote was named in honour of my rainbow baby and youngest child, as a nod to his name, Atticus. The original size of the Finch Bucket is so large that it fit, well, Atticus as a one year old. 😅🤣 He delighted in being a part of that little photo shoot.
The Stitch Mischief name and brand has evolved over the years and included many fiber-related crafts from hand dyed yarns, bespoke project bags, thread painted rope bowls, and whatever other whim struck my fancy at the time.
As this is a business that I run alongside raising my beautiful family with my husband and juggle other responsibilities, it has had a natural ebb and flow in how much time I can devote to it.
Currently, I am coming out of a bit of an ebb. This year (2025) became a knock-down drag-out fight with breast cancer. I’ll be finishing my chemotherapy cycles this December. Other than radiation and more reconstructive surgery in the new year, I don’t know what 2026 holds. But I’ll be here to find out and welcome with open arms whatever creative fancies strike me and know that I’ll have the gumption to tackle any future health challenges as they are unveiled.
Amidst the fear and uncertainty of this year, one thing has stayed constant. Even if I haven’t had the energy, time or simplicity of space to make as I would if healthy, I know that the drive and seeds of my maker self are still there waiting for the right time to blossom again.
This too shall pass. So, my shop shelves may seem meager at the moment with a single offering, but it’s a consistent and a very loved pattern. It’s been cherished by myself as I kept going back and adding on to it 😅, and by thousands of others who like me, love to make, for their own enjoyment and/or to share their creative gifts with others.
Thank you for being here on this wild and nonsensical, albeit ultimately small in the great scheme of life, creative journey. You are appreciated so much.
