What if?...
'Tookra' (टुकड़ा) in the Hindi language means "a piece" or "a slice" of something. We chose this name because of the way we make our wood block jewelry - by cutting away the decorative piece of the block and reshaping it into something simple and rustic, yet elegant.
Stunning wood-block printed textiles are just one art that has made India famous in the world if textiles. Limitless colors and styles, they all have one thing in common: every pattern is born from the hard work and expert skill of Indian wood carvers who meticulously design and cut blocks (usually rosewood or teak) into patterns. But what if you could not only wear beautifully block printed garments but actually adorn yourself with the carved, wooden blocks themselves? Sound crazy? Weird? Let us surprise you.
Sourcing suitable hand-made blocks directly from india, once they arrive at our studio they are shaped, treated, refined and fitted with high quality stainless steal or sterling silver accents. Every block is chosen individually and with a fitting in mind. Each finished 'tookra' has it's own story to tell. We hope you find a story that speaks to you.
