Baby slings,nursing covers and more
I'm a critical care nurse turned entrepreneur!
When my fourth and last baby was 10 months old (Dec 2007), I opened a lactation specialty shop . In January 2011 a few plus sized clients asked me to make them poncho nursing covers and the UCHI line was launched. By the fall, I started making baby carriers. I grew up with gorgeous fabrics (my mom made everything for us except underwear and socks) and have been sewing since I was 9 years old.
I believe products should be versatile, chic, easy to use and unique.
I'm the inventor of the kangaroo care wrap (Nov 2012) , a medical device, therefore my company held an MDEL from Health Canada (2013-2016). I received certification as a kangaroo care consultant (USIKC) in 2013 and have attended the course for several years as a exhibitor. My kangaroo care wrap invention is registered with the CIPTO with patent pending status. My baby carriers have necessary labels, documentation, instructions and product registration form. I take safety at heart and every baby carrier is sewn with triple stitching, reinforced corners (ie onbu and meh dai wraps). Every item is made by me from step 1: choosing the right fabric to the final touch.
