Socks come in many different designs, materials, colors, and patterns and serve different purposes for your feet. For instance, some styles are made for warmth like wool socks or leg warmers, and some are purely for fashion, like colorful socks with ribbon embellishments.
Socks of any type are often made from materials like cotton, polyester, wool, bamboo, silk, and nylon. From laid-back cotton slouch socks to knee-high socks with lace fringe, treat your feet to all the different styles:
- Dress socks: Dress to impress with dress socks displaying a unique pattern or sophisticated, dark hues. Dress socks generally pull up past the ankles or up to your calves and are made from a thinner fabric that fits nicely in dress shoes.
- Athletic socks: Athletic socks are often made from moisture-wicking breathable fabric, are ankle or tube sock height, and sometimes have a cushioned underfoot. These are ideal for daily wear with your sneakers or for physical activities in your sports shoes.
- Crew socks: Crew socks are taller than your average tube socks, coming to about mid-calf. When made from an insulated material, they make great boot socks and come in many colors and patterns. They often have a ribbed texture on the leg.
- Toe socks: With individual toe compartments made into the socks, toe socks fit like a glove. They’re fun socks that come in many patterns and colors.
- Knee-high socks: This hosiery includes knee-high and thigh-high socks and stockings. Socks are generally thicker whereas stockings are made from silk or nylon, giving a sheer or lustrous appearance. This leggy hosiery looks best with skirts, dresses, or shorts that show them off.
- Ankle socks: Ankle socks are almost as discrete as no-show socks. They just expose a peek of fabric and are ideal to wear with low-top shoes.
- Slipper socks: Slipper socks are thinner than your average slipper but thicker than a classic sock, becoming its own comfy in-between style that feels like wearing clouds on your feet.
