Creamers are small jugs designed to hold cream or milk. In the early 18th century, cream jugs–usually made of silver—were a sign of affluence. Creamers rose in popularity when access to imported teas became more common. Since then, sugar and creamer sets have been a traditional part of coffee or tea service sets in Western culture.
The earliest versions of creamer jugs were tall and rotund. Over time, their shape became shorter, and they began to feature longer spouts and multiple elongated feet.
